We+Welcome+You+

With citizens recovering from the recession and the constant outbreak of violence, more Saginaw natives are supporting local, low cost, and free, church sponsored events; so it was no surprise that a free gospel concert brought the community and congregation out. Saturday October 3rd, New Christ Community Church, 3302 Grant Street on Saginaw's south-east side, gave its stage to gospel duo Taco & Jac, who are also brothers. The event was hosted by Eugene Seals Jr. and Billy Reed with DJ DC.

For people looking for old school gospel hymns and traditional spiritual worship music, this was not the place to be. Breath of Praise opened the show with contemporary gospel songs like "We Worship U," "The Highest Praise," and "Hold On," but that's where tradition stopped. The hip-hop gospel song S.W.A.G.(Spirit, Word, Annointing, Gospel), recorded by hip-hop gospel artist Mr. Del, got the crowd out of the pews and into the aisle.

Mr. Del did not attend the event; however, that did not stop Saginaw Mayor Joyce Seals from “gettin' her two-step on!" Seals was at the event to support her nephews, gospel duo Taco & Jac. The duo held the event as an effort to give people a free night of fun and to promote their CD titled We Welcome You.

We Welcome You is a diverse album loaded with songs like "Get Ready For War," which has a heavy Rock 'n' Roll feel to it, as well as the soulful and sultry "Nothing Without You" and "We Welcome You."  The duo's mission is to spread the Gospel message through a variety of musical styles.

Taco & Jac have been singing all of their lives and have musical roots that go as far back as three generations. They are a perfect pair on the gospel stage. We Welcome You is the second album for the two-some and is available at cdbaby.com and tacoandjac.com
