Mid-Michigan offers a wide array of events to celebrate St. Patrick's Day, from green beers invading the local pubs, to something more appealing to families, teetotalers or those nursing hangovers. Here is a brief guide to area events:
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 17:
Events get underway with photos and a presentation to the honorees at St. Michael's Church (Corner of 5th Avenue and Saginaw Street) at 11 am for
Flint's St. Patrick's Day Celebration and
2010 Pot O' Gold 4 Mile Run and Walk. The presentation is followed by a mass of St. Patrick at 12:02 pm. From there, attendees will head over to the Masonic Temple on Saginaw Street for Irish dancing, food and music by
Equinox. The race starts at 5:30 pm. For more information, visit the official site for

The green beer will be flowing at
Hamilton Street Pub (308 S. Hamilton Street) in Saginaw. In addition to green beer, the Pub will be offering drink specials on Guinness, Killians, Irish Car Bombs and other Irish-themed drinks. The party kicks off at 9:30 pm and will also feature gifts and prizes. Other

4th Annual St. Patrick's Day Tent Party (3095 Tittabawassee Road) featuring music by
By Popular Demand. The event gets underway at 6:00 p.m .with DJ Hitt. By Popular Demand takes the stage at 9:00 p.m. There are drink specials all night. On
Saturday, the beer tent will be open again, this time with
The Thunder Chickens performing.

Starting at 8:00pm in

The Bearinger Boys will be sharing the stage at
Bemo's (701 S. Madison Avenue). Also, Midland Street is sure to be busy with green-clad drinkers participating in the
St. Patrick's Day Midland Street Pub Crawl.

On
Friday, March 19, the Delta College Planetarium (100 Center Avenue, Bay City) will be hosting "
An Enchanted Emerald Isle" from 6:30 - 8:30 pm. The evening will feature a salute to Ireland, with an exploration of Irish stories and culture. The Delta College Flute Choir will be on hand to perform traditional Irish music. Attendees will also experience the cutting edge Delta Digital 360 projection system with a screening of
The Enchanted Reef. Refreshments will be served. Cost is $10 for adults and $8 for seniors and children. Advanced tickets are recommended. For more information, visit the

Taking place on
Sunday, March 21, is the Bay Area Runner's Club
37th Annual Al Kayner St. Patrick's Day Race. Events will kick off the day before the big run with a Fitness Expo taking place from 10 am to 3 pm at the Bay County Community Center (800 John F. Kennedy Drive, Bay City). Also, during the expo at 2pm, there will be a Leprechaun run for children. The 5 and 8k runs will start at 11:45 am on Sunday, with the 5k walk starting shortly thereafter. 56th Bay City St. Patrick's Day Parade. The parade starts at 2 pm. For more information, visit the
