  • The 2010 Frankenmuth Dog Bowl featured hundreds of dogs bounding, bouncing, diving, and retrieving. Their keen agility and priceless personalities entertained and impressed spectators. Events included: Best Costume Contest, 50 yd. Doggie Fun Run, Fashion Show, Disc Dog Competitions, Wiener Dog Races, Pet Retail Vendors, Dog Bowl 2010 King and Queen, Dog Breeds of the World Show, 2nd Annual Canine Cruise of the Bavarian Belle River Boat, Dock Dogs Competition, and Hot Air Balloons (http://frankenmuthriverplace.com).
  • The AKC has recognized 161 purebreds for dog lovers to choose from, all with unique traits to suit anyone's lifestyle, from the untiring Irish Setter to the mellow Mastiff (http://www.akc.org).
  • However, according to the United States Dog Agility Association (USDAA), the unorthodox Heinz 57 can give those pedigrees a run for their money. After all, agility contests measure a handler's skill as well as the dog's athleticism (http://www.usdaa.com).
  • The first Frisbee can be traced back to pie tins made in the1800s by the Frisbie Baking Company tossed around by Yale students after eating the tasty desserts. However, two former Army pilots, Walter Frederick Morrison and Warren Franscioni, are accredited for inventing the first plastic rendition of the flying disc in 1948. It is this version that hangs from the salivating mouths of dogs as they gallivant around to arouse applause at the 2010 Frankenmuth Dog Bowl.
  • Many dog breeds are known to love water. At the top of the list are the Portugese Water Dog and the Labrador Retriever. But this Weimaraner looks like he is ready to make a splash, no holds barred!
  • According to the Guiness Book of World Records, Cinderella May, a Greyhound, holds the record for the highest jump by a dog on October 7, 2006 in Gray Summit, Missouri. She jumped at total of 172.7 cm or 68 inches.
