Fright Night is sure to be a thrill. Take your costume for a dry run as you
watch roller girl rivals, Mid Michigan Derby Girls and Flint City Derby Girls
face off for the third time in a Mid Michigan Derby Girls season opener!
Mid Michigan is leading the ongoing battle for the top spot in Genesee
County with 2-0, but it's a new season. Will the Mid Michigan Derby Girls hang
on to their winning streak, or will the third time be the charm for Flint City
Derby Girls? Find out during Fright Night at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23 in
the hockey rink at Skateland Arena, 8460 N. Dort Highway in Mount Morris
Township. The public may enter at 6 p.m. for seating.
Advance tickets cost $6 and can be purchased at Skateland Arena, The Dive Shop
at G4020 Corunna Road, from a MMDG skater or online www.brownpapertickets.com.
Tickets will be available at the door for $8. The league offers free admission
for children 12 and younger. Proceeds from MMDG games are donated to local
charities. The benefiting charity will be announced at the game.
Don't worry if you don't know how roller derby works. The Mid Michigan Derby Girls will explain how the game is played, and throughout
the evening members of the roller derby league who are not playing in the
game will answer questions about roller derby, the league or for
information on how to join.
The Mid Michigan Derby Girls is a nonprofit organization dedicated to
athleticism, community involvement, female empowerment and cultivating the
unique sport of roller derby in Mid Michigan. The league has skaters
from Genesee, Saginaw, Oakland and Livingston counties and is always accepting
new skaters from the surrounding areas. For more information about the Mid
