Graffiti Rose by Traveling Seth
Creative 360 (1517 Bayliss, Midland) has invited artists to create the next gallery exhibit live on
the grounds during an outdoor art festival on Saturday, August 20 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. There is something thrilling about watching art being created, and even
more so when it’s on a large, in-your-face scale. Watch artists create graffiti and street
art live on the lawn during this one-of-a-kind event.
Artists will create their work on 8 foot by 4 foot boards which will be displayed in the gallery for
an exhibit from August 17 through September 27. Featured artists include Jimmy Hughes, Wendi Johnson, Josh Lervezuk, Zach Miller, Eric Schantz, and Dave Smith.
“There is a lot of buzz being generated and we are very excited about this event” says
executive director Elizabeth A. Ruediger. “People can come and watch, for free,
as artists create art live.”
In addition to the large gallery pieces, local artists are invited to create smaller pieces to be a part of
the outdoor installation on the grounds of Creative 360. Artists interested in painting one of the smaller pieces should contact Creative 360 for more information.
“Normally graffiti is discouraged, so we want to give these remarkable artists an
outlet,” says Ruediger. “We would love for this to become an annual festival at Creative
360.”
The festival will include art activities for kids and a graffiti board open for festival
visitors to paint. DJs from BassLove Productions will be set up in the pavilion to
provide music throughout the festival. The festival is free, but the center gratefully accepts donations.
